Native Habitat: Swamps, Marshes and Wet Shores. 
Flowering Characteristics: Petals 3, violet-blue, variegated with white and green toward the  base, bearing a furry, yellow ridge (the beard) 
Native Range: Virginia to Florida & Texas. It's in the same family as the northern native Iris of the northeastern wetlands. 
Flowering expected: May - August 
Comments: The name "Flag" is from the middle English "flagge," "rush" or "reed." *Note, this species in our nursery has endured temperatures in the high 20's with no special handling. 

Sun & partial shade. Salt Tolerance to .3%
